Touts at Delhi Hospitals

Will Delhi CM do something on touts? What about Health Minister of India?

Touts within many government and even private hospitals will continue to operate. Understaffed doctors and lengthy waiting queues for surgeries ensure that patients look to touts to cut through the red tape and touts oblige.
with their vast network among hospital staff, touts can get almost anything done in a government hospital. So if you are tired of standing in a queue or are in need of a bed, these people get your work done. From fixing an appointment with a doctor to getting your tests done at an economical rate, they are there for all the services. The touts charge close to Rs 500 to fix up appointments with doctors and Rs 1,000 or more for securing beds for patients. more

Yes, bribery is there in the govt hospitals in Delhi for early appointments, treatments and bed allocations, and it is mostly done through the security staff. It is almost open in Safdarjang Hospital and AIIMS Delhi. The Secretary in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in theGovt of India will have to take action - not the political leadership: install CCTV cameras at vantage points that remain functional and also do inspection in anonymity. CCTVs are must in these hospitals at least in Delhi. more
Delhi Health Minister does not have time for this. He has to handle his own personal business empire. app or no app the bottom line is same rot. more
Our population that visits the hospital are mostly from rural areas. They do not speak English and have no whereabouts of the hospitals or procedures. The English speaking population of India is only 12 percent. Deciding on the hospital, Doctor and filling all forms can be a horrible experience for the visitors. Hospitals do not provide a help desk which is manned by their staff in any (government Included) hospitals. So where do they go? An honest tout is better than nothing. Foreigners coming to India for medical treatment do the same. There are companies that organise medical tourism for the visitors. Till you have a solution in place, I am afraid that these people are required to help and guide the sick people for rural areas. This gap can be filled by NGO who should be visible at every big hospital and at the Delhi Railway Stations and Bus Stations. It is a mammoth task. It sound good to get rid of Touts but what then?? more
I dont think so such a cumbersome requirement existing in any hospital. Most of the details are written by the Doctors only. May be touts if any may be for some other purpose/ Q-manipulations. It still require to get to know in detail about the admission process. more
Dear Members, Please treat them as Directors, Facilitators and Leaders and not Tout. more
I will just comment on the point of understaffing. There is wrong recruitment process in Hospitals. Good Doctors are available but are not being recruited for the reasons best known to Delhi Government. It makes ad-hoc recruitment for contract period of 90 days to one year. Against a vacancy of one specialist, may be 60-70 doctors apply for the post. Delhi Government need to look into its recruitment policy immediately. more
