Traffic police do less duty and more money bargaining business when they catch the wrong person.
When the person who implies punishment is himself wrong then how will the road system improve. All are well aware that if money is given, they will be free on the roads again to commit or repeat their harsh driving and create nuisance and accidents. The root of the system is weak and so there is no possibility of improving it very quickly. I have seen in several areas, traffic police taking huge money and letting the wrong person go without any pain. The giver and taker should be punished; but who is the person to shoulder such responsibility properly and sensibly. Either one should be honest and responsible enough to save others from accidental deaths or injuries. Educated and honest public are still there but if one is wrong the whole system gets damaged by his influence. So whom to blame, whom to save, whom to punish is all a big puzzle. On the spot punishment like in America should be imposed and made aware to the person so that he will not repeat in the future. more
Traffic problems can be reduced to Nil if police/Govt. install cameras at all the sensitive areas and traffic signals to capture all those who flout traffic rules. Accordingly same picture is sent to the concerned with the penalty amount to deposit with any Govt. Banks/post offices etc. within the stipulated date. more
Some key solns. There should be some accountability for traffic police. Rules should be more strict . Hawk eyes at each signal. Challan amount depend upon economic status of vehicle owner. Easy and less time consuming system of challan payment in court. more
