TRAFFIC RULES 50/60 YEARS BACK & HOW IT FUNCTIONED AS THE STEPPING STONE FOR VEHICLE USERS :

When I first started in the 50's

* riding a cycle we had to observe traffic rules : No doubles, no oneway violations , night time ride with light, battery operated or oil lamps in front of the Cycle and so on . The punishment used to be to be to leave the cycle there and collect it after paying the fine in the court next day . when Small boys violate the cop takes the air out of the tyres and let them go : so thay have topush it back .

* Riding a mobike in the 60's - at the turnings Stop , look and Proceed signal used to be there . There used to be a Line to stop , the feet have to be grounded .Violators were penalised .

* Driving a car by the 70's we had automatically become matured and aware of Traffic rules and the implications .

* The number of policeman to Vehicle riders and Drivers Ratio was good, so they were able to supervise well and implement the law .Now the Ratio has dropped drastically : depending a bit on the Signal and CCTV came to being slowly

At present the police are armed with more Electronic equipment and the rules and revised fine rates . Yet the Riders and Drivers haven't realised the need to adopt traffic rules and have smooth ride for themselves and the other MV Tax payers on the road. more

Yes sir, those were days of disciplined upbringing and social awareness.Police use to announce daily about driving on the left constantly and warning about double riding. Warning about over taking which side to take in 60-70s was better .overspeeding was constantly warned by loud speakers. Police were helping road crossing ,boy scouts and NCC were helping in traffic guidance. Now inspite of driving schools none follow the rules ,they think they can manage police if caught! Fake driving licences , drunken driving, underaged driving , Tripple riding, wrong side driving to save petrol, helmet less driving, wrong overtaking, lawless behaviour has come to stay. Traffic jams are commmon ,police not to be seen at crowded areas, they are busy talking, using mobiles , chitchatting . Senior officers always state that the traffic Police is over worked and understaffed Inspite of constant increasing over the last 60 years. The system will remain like this for ever ,we need excuses for non-performance. Pedestrian friendly days are gone. more
Congress rule has brought social ruin in India more
Yes, Congress rule promoted only family & corrupt leaders. more
Traffic is maddening but the resultant stress can be avoided by following traffic rules, and most of all by starting on time to get to the destination on time. Lane driving is sane driving. But what can be done if there are no lane markings on the road? Vehicles must be properly illuminated during hours of darkness - but the heavy trucks plying on the Outer Ring Road (Bengaluru) 95% are without tail lights and so colored or dirty that they are visible only at short dangerous distances. Are there any handbooks or a website where the drivers-to-be can refer for safe driving? A lot of effort needs to be put in for driver-education and conforming to the needs of civic responsibility. more
Illfull Rule of Congress was run against almost Rules , Laws and WHOLE IPC , Admn. procedures AFTER '90 Cornering POLICING AND JUDICIARY TOO. Congress and it's Allies Only cared Business Sector ignoring VIGILANCE AND INVESTIGATION , INSPECTION AND CHECKING DEPARTMENTS OF ALL Govt Wings . I and All aged 60 above ALSO know these facts . It is becoming hard-enough to CORRECT , RECTIFY AND REFORM NEEDED LAWS . Constitutional Bodies still not Realising even after facing multiple CHALLENGES TO LAW AND ORDER , IPC , CONSTITUTIONAL MANDATES , AND THE SUGGESTIONS OF APEX COURT . more
