Train Disruption in Delhi

As Yamuna river continues to swell over danger mark in Delhi, the Northern Railways has restricted train speed to 20 kmph while travelling over Yamuna bridge in Delhi. The Northern Railways CPRO further said, "If water level crosses the 206.4 mark then will stop train movement on this bridge."

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has put all its agencies on a high alert owing to the increasing possibility of floods in the capital city. On Monday morning, the river was flowing at 205.94 meters, 1.44 meters above the danger level of 204.5 meters. more

Good action.Risk of running against such natural calamities is not at all desirable. On Tue, Aug 20, 2019 at 10:51 PM Bharat Lal wrote: > more
So finally the parched Delhi is now having a problem of plenty. Thanks to Haryana & Chandigarh and others who feel Delhi is dumping ground for excess water. With Delhi in "bhaad" it is perhaps an opportunity to conserve this bonus of water filling up water bodies for the dry season and scarce rainfall in capital which is bound to aggravate water problem for Delhi. Delhi Government needs to act fast and get experts at water conservation to see how best the situation can be turned to benefit the public of Delhi. more
The rivers pass through various States. The State political leaders play local sentiments and grind their own axe keeping an eye on winning next election. Under such circumstances, it it impossible to take some constructive actions. Pausity of funds is another reason for not undertaking river linking projects as every State is under huge debt due to ever increasing cost of governance and increase in freebies. more
