train frequency

most urgent and painful issue is reservation and the main reason is not enough capacity on trains.
If I compare India with Western europe, then I match the distances. International trains then can be compared to inter-state trains in India....
Wish the following would be once a reality in India too: Europeans are used to go to ticket counter followed by going to train platform and jump on the train; train is leaving within 5 minutes; when 10 minutes later than time tables we call it already a delay, late (in India they say train is on time); every couple of hours there is a link... so changing trains is common.
solution: make Indian trains half so long, and let them run at least every 3 hours.
Cannot expose European train system in a few lines, it is more complicated than that, but transformation of Indian railways has to start somewhere and best on the major issue. more

Dear Rajesh, comparing to Europe: for international trains the different railway companies have to cooperate, in India there is just one nowadays... Once beyond the national boundaries European international trains observe the same problem: different gauge dimensions, distances beyond 500km, different languages of the train staff and countries passing through, and worse even different high voltage for the loc. I am not comparing to the individual railway companies own railway service, that would be unfair to compare with Indian conditions. And I do not claim Indian trains should go same speed: to different are infrastructure of tracks signalisation coaches and locomotives.... But network map and train lines and interchanging possibility and train frequency and length are here in question and can change seriously the overall quality. I say it for India residents, me I touch anyhow foreign tourist quota, and have my time in holidays to wait one day on train connections... RAILWAY MINISTER SHOULD AT LEAST TEST AND TRAVEL WITHOUT OWN PRIOIRTY QUOTA TO SEE FOR HIMSELF more
thanx for irctc more
Hmmm...not a bad idea of reducing bogeys and increasing frequency. Comparing with Europe may not be fair as the the traffic conditions are no way near ours. Maybe the Rlys should release a study of passengers transported daily by all counties of the world to give us an idea of how dense our traffic conditions are. more
