I read that fssai is looking at reducing trans fat content in products in India, esp oil, not sure if ghee has it. Earlier 40% of fat in some Indian products was trans fats. 60000 people die every year just in India because of trans fats and per WHO it should be banned.
As rightly said, we need not trust on the findings & recommendations of these organisations on each and every mattes in our closed eyes. Reports say that these organisations brought down present level of ideal blood sugar level in a humane body to 100 from 200 considered ideal & healthy 30 years back. They are actively considering to bring down the level again to 70 or 75. The report also recommended that people with blood sugar level up to 200 need not worry and start medication. Then what made these organisations for such a misleading step, which caused to jump the sale of the related medicines many times in one stroke. Incidentally, the cost of medicines in the western countries is at least 10 times higher than in India. The figure of death annually caused because of consumption of Trans Fat in a country of 1.30 billion people, as stated in the post, itself raises a question on the credibility & trustworthiness of the study claimed to have been carried out by the WHO and if it is correct, our people need not worry about the deadliness of the fat for sure. In present days our concern should be pointed towards large scale use of deadly chemicals in fruits and vegetables to ripe them quickly and give them attractive colours & freshness all over the country, which is simply slow poisoning with ultimate result of pathetic death with multiple diseases. more
Let us not ape the West blindly. They keep changing their theories about what is good and what is bad for the health. We should apply these theories only to the new products invented by them, like refined oil and Vanaspati, cross-bred foreign cows, butter-oil wrongly called ghee, food grown using chemicals etc. We should not apply them to our traditional time-tested natural products made from food grown using natural methods using natural, locally grown seeds. more
