Transform India: Think and Act

Dear friends,
Do we really need piza and potato chips in our diet. Absolutely no!!! These are being sold at a very high prices 10 gms chips for Rs 20/- and one small piza for almost Rs 100/-. Why should we eat them and cry for high rise prices of onion and potato. Potatoes are being diverted for making chips and onion being diverted for making fast food, to restaurants and hotels where a common man is switching over to eat junk and unhealthy food at a very high cost. Intake of onions has gone up many fold. Gone are the days when onion used to be considered as a bad (Tamsik food) in orthodox families and never been their part of food. Today onion and potato have become an essential part of the kitchen. Therefore demand has increased many fold. Not withstanding to this Govt must impose a very heavy duty on chips, piza, junk foods etc so as to check diversion of essential commodities. One can live without piza, chips, kurkures and so on but not onion and potato since poorman needs both of them. Hence, it is humble request to my friends to discard foods like piza, chips and other such harmful eatables and also not to become hyper alongwith media on issue of onions and potatoes. Modi Govt has taken number of steps and is moving on right directions to check rising prices of these essential commodities and I suggest that Govt must levy high taxes/duty on such foods which are not essential and more harmful to the health of the countrymen.

I agree to the views expressed above. We must put some restrictions on these items which should not be marketed very easily. more

Thanks Mr Sandeep for your comments. Govt must introduce heavy duty like it has done for cigaretts. more
Why only foods... govt should categorize the products under necessities, requirements and leisure. then it should be taxed as per the category.. Like big cars and SUV should attract higher taxes than mid size car. same can be adopt for bikes i.e 100 cc bikes should attract lesser taxes than 150 cc bikes. Govt should under stand what is important for daily life and what is not for poor and middle class. more
