TRANSFORMATION IN DIETS & FOOD HABITS WITH THE ADVENT OF PRECOOKED AND PRESERVED FOODS :

It is really convenient for the working families where there is constraint of time ,as travel to work consumes much. Thanks to these prepared , precooked foods that come handy for such . This shouldn’t go on a regular basis. It is then that they are confronted with deficiencies and diseases.

If any one turns around and asks how do the west manage with the consumption of precooked food so prevalent . In the west the same shops also sell Fresh ready to eat Salads , which are rich in all the required nutrients . So what is missed mains is compensated .

Yes family dynamics have changed but it will be good people understand what they are losing -health which they will not be able to get back by eating the junk foods. more  
Till recently in India we all were used to home cooked and fresh foods only. Only when husband and wife start working to balance the family expenses the need for preserved food and also probiotics are preferred. Curd is an ideal probiotic and in all south Indian meal it is finished with curd rice only and many use curd rice for lunch daily. Economics dictate harmless preserved and probiotic food for all families. This saves the time for the working woman returning from office looking for some easy and healthy food for the family. more  
The field of probiotics is in early stages. Though the western markets are full of “probiotics based products” little can be said definitely about them. As usual, merchants looking for profits are making all kinds of claims with little science to back them. However many scientists are engaged in research in the area and the future looks promising. Among the Indian foods, yogurt or curd are likely the best probiotics. Again, one has to be careful about fermented foods because (I don’t know but) suspect that some fermented foods can contain toxins. more
