Transformation of farmers

More and more children of farmers are turning away from doing farming. Why?
Young farmers feel that they can't live in uncertainty and they better work in cities, let it be like labourers. Why?
Imagine India where young farmers keep thinking like this and farming keep getting reduced leaving their fields barren!!!
Unless govt focused to make farming easy & enjoyable, farming community is fast turning away from doing farming. This circle should share probable solutions for making farming easy & enjoyable otherwise young farmers resources are getting frustrated and fast running towards cities and deserting their once flourishing farms.
This could become biggest challenge in supply chains and ruin any economy.
Govt to explore means & transform farming urgently. more

Contractual farming has once again a crony capitalism and forcing the farmers to cultivate the crop of the contractor and the rates are pre-fixed. Now we can see more mushroom of co-operative farming societies formed by the corporates like ITC, Hindustan unilever and Reliance to gain the government subsidy and capital investments, and to build cold storage for their self. Actual beneficieries are the corporates and not the farmers. more
Real Farmers , small cultivating owners , are many a times deprived off from being addressed with Subsidized Fertilizers & Pesticides in time since the major portion of the stocks have had been let to those possessing 50 acres to even HUNDREDS OF ACRES LAND . Secondly , the issue of Water routing also has the same let out after catering the lords of the lands . These two are in addition to the adulterated Fertilizers and pesticides and these three are to be address in all the Villages . Further , the failure of the Governments keeping a watch and inspection on lands that have been and now held beyond the LAND CEILING LIMITS , REALLY HAMPERING THE REAL FARMING AND CULTIVATING FAMILIES IN ALL OVER INDIA . Lands are to Resurveyed and set as per the Acts in force besides addressing with Cooperative farming just like the recent address by the A. P. Government authorising and encouraging Contractual Farming / Cultivation to achieve more yields and reasonable profits to both lender and lendee . more
You said it right, my friend TamilSelvan V. Thanks to add helpful points. more
Wish to add some more points on deserting of farmers and farm labour communities to cities. Rural population hat to meet the so called suppressing caste system, which is little seen in cities now a days. A scholar from a marginalized caste do not receive the due respect even from a poorest dweller of privilege community in villages. A farmer working for more than 14 hours a day under the sky at all terrains do not earn the maximum and had to depend more on external funding to raise the crops, while the city dwellers get all the facilities at door steps. Every parent in village or city always wish that their sufferings are not passed on to next generation. Naturally the farming community too wants their kids to move to better pastures(city) to have better livelihood. more
Thank you Tamilselvan V for your wonderful but profoundly delineated comment. I had seen that 60% farm land already deserted which were flourishing with abundance when I was a child. I actually interviewed farmers' youth by meeting them in their villages spread over several hundreds km and I was shocked that not a single youth expressed interest in farming. They are in fact not getting proper guidance or consoled for their frustrations. These youth are no more prepared to get help from so many govt schemes. To my surprise, they are no more interested in even running for subsidies and most are refusing it. Why? Answer I got was surprisingly simple "can we live on subsidies? Is it possible to enjoy life this way?" Youth replied that they can live better life by going to the cities as labourers. Some could even buy 1BHK home in cities which they would never had afforded in their lifetime. At least they are happy being cities where their children are getting good education. One of the youth told me his success story that his daughter is now topping engineering classes and he can look into prosperous family living and quality life. Although he left 5 acres of farm land behind in his village, now fully deserted with no farming. No one in his village like to do farming on his land even on sharing 2/3 crops. It's here govt need to look into transformation of farmers urgently before it's too late. Their vote bank oriented schemes will ultimately lead whole nation into irreversible disasters!!!! more
