http://tinyurl.com/lrtr22e

This whitepaper is extremely relevant to every citizen of India in driving cleanliness in their neighborhood through effective working of their Municipal Corporation and for the success of Swachh Bharat initiative. We thank each one of you for your inputs.

While we at Ministry of Urban Development will share this with urban municipal corporations in the country requesting actions, we also strongly recommend that you as a citizen share it with your Municipality leadership as well. You can share the link or send it as an attachment to them.

It is only through coordinated Government and Citizen action that we will be able to drive this much needed positive change!

Swachh Bharat Municipal corporation has a crucial role to play. garbage should not be thrown in open, fine is there ample number of dust bins are kept all across the road, and in residential colonies if we see all across country it is not sufficient numbers, so in such case only few people who have strong feeling and determination toward swachh bharat will depose the dry/wet garbage in proper place but in most of the case it will not be followed. Public toilets again is a issue which should be taken care with priority many more measures which municipal corporation should take to achieve swachh bharat mission. more
Implementing is rather more important than just discussing more
toilets in big malls are in reasonably good shape but those in small shopping complexes in all cities are in horrible condition. all municipals should make regular visits to such complexes and ensure they are clean. in the absence of public toilets these can be used for urinals and this will avoid urinating by people in the open. more
planning in municipals is being done by incompetent people. municipals should be proactive in their planning which should involve experts in the field. planning should be based on a premise agreed with the govt, like- planning for a lakh resident in a defined area with well defined ration on shopping complexes. office etc. once this is done, based on the master plan municipals should transparently auction the areas for development of offices, flats etc. what is happening now is builder buy land and then influence municipals to develop areas and then they launch schemes and earn huge money. municipal should start with acquiring land, make a plan, develop infrastructure in the area and publish the master plan followed by do an online auction of the various parts of the plan to private developers. more
