Traveler friendly naming of Trains needed

I’m on a train called Secunderabad - Jaipur Express 19714, that left Secunderabad at 9.20 pm. I have a ticket of 12720 on Hyderabad Jaipur express that left Secunderabad at 9.16 pm. The 2 trains have such identical names, leave same time from Secunderabad., so one can make a mistake, although one should ideally be looking at train number (which I didn’t do).

Is there a way of getting the railway authorities to understand how the similarity in names and timing creates a good possibility of mistake as I have done and see if through better naming/timing it can be addressed.

Also, now that this has happened, will the authorities accommodate in this case, and help by alloting an alternate berth here. more

Coloring coaches differently is good idea but impractical. Decades ago S R had green, yellow, majenta etc for different trains so that different rakes are easily identified. But as it always happens due to coach developing problem later one can see an assorted color rakes plying on-line and the system failed. But each category of trains can have distinct color schemes.once mas HWH ,mas NDLS ( howrah mail, TN exp ) had pleasing orange red off-white combination. As for as coaches are concerned a horizontal stripe of bright color can be given above window level for entire length , say one stripe for AC I, 2 stripes for AC2T, 3 stripes for AC3T and one broad stripe for sleeper,a broken stripe for CC . Train destination should be the terminal station only with via...... Stn more
As far as change in the name of one of these two trains, the railways should not have any difficulty in renaming one of them to avoid such instances in future. As far as accommodating you in this train, there should not be any problems subject to availability of accommodation and getting a valid ticket for this train in specific, as the ticket held by you is meant for the other train and you will be treated as 'travelling without ticket' in this train as per rules. more
19714 Secandrabad- Jaipur Express [ weekly ] leaves Originating Station on Monday at 21-20 hrs. Where as Hyderabad - Ajmer Express [ Super fast/ By- weekly] leaves originating Station on Monday & Wideness day at 20-30 hrs. It seems to be okay, On Mon, Jun 11, 2018 at 11:06 PM, Uma Ghurka wrote: > more
i had suggested some minor changes regarding easy travelling to shri suresh prabhu, then railway minister, likecolor scheme for different trains and train compartments.the passenger(local)trains,mail-express trains-super fast trains and rajdhani-shatabdi trains must different- fixed colour to distinguish them easily even by a illetrate person/passenger.the same thing applies to the compartments, general/sleeper/reserved/ladies etc must have different but fixed colours uniformly in each train, to identify the same from far off.the position of each compartment/boggie must also be fixed as far as possible for each train so that there is no need to find them here and there.the sign boards/indicators etc must be of design so that they never harm physically to the passengers like they should not have arrow type sharp corners/they should not be made of steel.they should have a fixed minimum height etc . the name of station should be displayed maximum(at a short distance) at the platform so that the passenger inside the train can find it easily.it was also added then that the train instead of having a illimunated "Indian RAil" plate outside the compartment, it should indicate its place of journey. there is no meaning of a train indicate lokmanya tilak station or bhagat ki kothi or hazarat nizamuddin as no body knows about them,it should be city/town specific.Atleast name of city/town must be there. ajay parikh  anand   13 june 2018 On Monday, June 11, 2018, 11:14:21 PM GMT+5:30, Uma Ghurka wrote: more
