Treatment in Delhi Govt hospitals

The Aam Admi Party Govt. has done tremendous job in improving health delivery system in Delhi Govt. hospitals. Sometime back there was a report in the newspaper that the Chief Minister of Delhi visited the hospital and found that the Doctors prescribing medicines which were not available in the hospital stock. They were instructed to prescribe those medicines which are available in the stock only so that the patients should not buy the medicine from the market.

While the move is a good, at the same time there might be some difficulties which need to studied and come out with corrective action to be taken by Delhi Government.
1. There may be some medicines which may not be in higher demand and may be slow moving and may not be available in the stock at times but essential to be prescribed. What to do as Doctors seems to be finding it difficult.
2. The facility for the test to be conducted may not be available in the hospital and as per directives, the patient can be got tested in private laboratory at the expense of the hospital. Do you feel there might be corruption involved and if yes in what way the existence of corruption and its modus operandii.
3. What are the difficulties being faced by patients in getting treatment at hospitals. more

Of course there is much improvement in working of Health Centres in Delhi. However for last one month the clinical facilities (sugar testing etc) in Delhi Govt Health Centre in Sector 10 DWARKA  (just close of GOLAKDHAM ASHRAM) are vitually stopped for want of STRIPS etc. On enquiry it is found that Supply of many essential drugs and clinical strips etc has stopped. THE CALL OF THE DAY IS TO PUT SOME SYSTEM IN THE MEDICARE. STILL THERE IS CIOUS AND ALL AROUND MISMANAGEMENT. 1. THERE IS AN URGENT NEED TO CONTROL THE MASS RUSH IN HOSPITALS. THE PRIMARY HEALTH CENTERS NEED TO TAKE CARE OF THE MOST SMALLER AILMENTS. ONLY PATIENTS REFEREED BY THEM NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITALS FOR SPECIALIZED TREATMENTS. 2. THE FREE FACILITIES OF TESTS AND TREATMENT ARE MASSIVELY BEING WASTED. OUR MAID SERVANT IS BUSY IN THE MORNING GETTING HOT PACK TREATMENT A NUMBER OF TIMES. SHE PUTS HERSELF AND KIDS TO GET SLIPS AND ENJOYS THE HOT PADS FREE OF COST. SHE MAY NOT BE NEEDING IT, BUT SINCE IT IS FREE, SHE TEMPTS TO ENJOY THE SAME, ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTERS. 3.THE IS A VERY URGENT NEED TO CHECK THE LOOT AND MISGUIDANCE DONE BY PRIVATE HOSPITALS. 4. THERE IS A URGENT NEED TO FIX PRICE TAGS ON ALL TESTS AND PROCEDURES DONE BY THE HOSPITALS, AS PER THE CGHS RATE LIST. 5. DOCTORS , PATH LABS AND HOSPITALS SHOULD BE MADE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VALIDITY AND NEED FOR THE TESTS AND PROCEDURES. RECOMMENDATION OF ALL UNNECESSARY TESTS AND SURGERIES SHOULD BE MADE PUNISHABLE. 6. ACCEPTING AND GIVING COMMISSION FOR REFERRAL SHOULD BE A CRIME AND PUNISHABLE. more
It's politically wrong to write against poor. People giving lectures here are suggested to live with rural folks in one among 2000 unauthorized Colonies of Delhi. Rich landlords as farmers on agricultural land vs poor tenants who are Migrants. more
Even the working class who is under my care gets MRI done without a referral from any of doctors. Pain here and there makes everyone abuse free services without realizing the radiation risks etc more
Wisdom also lies in dispassionately distinguishing between facts and fiction! more
Delhi Govt. should also make a control on huge fees that is being charged by private doctors and also make some rules to stop prescribing medicines which are only available in their owned medical stores. It becomes very difficult for a patient or guardian finding no luck purchasing these medicines outside that medical center, also medicines prescribed are too costly. more
