Tree cutting in Gurgaon.
These administrators and engineers have very little idea that just by widening the road/s the traffic issue cannot be resolved. No doubt the traffic moves faster for some distance. But once it reaches some junction or turning, not only everything stops but causes heavy traffic jams. Solution lies in better management of traffic and providing people with better public transport. People are forced to drive their own vehicles as the public transport system is non-existent. I do not think many people drive with pleasure, they drive under compulsion. If the public transport improves, they will use the same with pleasure.
Another issue is that tree cutting is a money minting device too. They give contracts for cutting trees and pay the contractors. The contractors get money from Govt. When they cut the trees, they sell the timber and firewood. So they get double income and they do not mind paying good commission to those who provide them with the opportunity. First of all why cutting of healthy trees the concerned engineer along with the agency it belongs should be strictly prosecuted by the concerned ministry. Why can't they use the technology for re-planting the trees which is being followed in majority developed countries. Gurgaon Municipal Authority is very well funded as compare to other towns. more

Gurgaon though termed a millennium city is left far behind NOIDA in r/o public transport including the Metro service. While NOIDA has vision in this regard, Gurgaon is entangled in political wriggle and vote bank politics. more

Cutting of full grown trees on main road from Huda Metro station to IIFCO is atrocious & heartless. Traffic issues can't be solved like this. Its already a 6 lane road. Which idiot has authorised this? more

I agree with you, first local police officials need to manage the traffic, it is wrst because of local auto's are driving rash and violating traffic rules all the time. if everyone follow the rules, I am sure it will make huge difference, but in India no one is try to take the ownership to do some thing good specially in Govt. Athority and local police. They are making challanes of local civilians but never think to manage traffic properly for which they are in appointed. I saw local auto wala's , Cab drivers have their cousin brother or family member in police and they dont bother to break rule as they know no one will touch them.this metality causing problem all the time. Police is more responsible for bad traffic, instead of cutting trees, first make the traffic rules strickt for all and more hard for drivers who is running commercial vehicles so that they follow lane, do not drive in wrong direction, stop at red light. basic system needs corrections, unnecessarly harming enviroment is wrong. it will take another 10-20years or more to grow such tress whcih they are planning to cut in a minutes. more
