Types of chest pain that are not heart attack
When you experience acid reflux, also known as heartburn, the gastric acids in your stomach enter the tube that connects both throat and stomach, known as esophagus. It is a known fact that stomach acids are highly acidic and can cause burning sensation near the chest, right behind your breastbone. It is also known as Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and if left untreated, can lead to chest congestion, asthma or more.
Those who lift heavy weights would know this pain but it can also occur after you lift heavy things. It is basically an indication of strained chest muscles.
Not exactly a heart attack but this too concerns your heart. CAD is blockage in the heart blood vessel, which can reduce blood and oxygen flow to the heart muscles. This can lead to pain in angina. While it is a heart disease, it does not affect your heart permanently. However, this surely is a sign that you must consult a doctor.
This is a lung-related disorder which happens due to the inflammation of the sac that is present around your heart. It can lead to acute pain that can become worse as you breathe.
Pleuritis is the inflammation of the lungs and chest lining. It causes acute pain on breathing or coughing. One of the reasons for pleuritic chest pain is viral infections. Pneumonia, as we all know is a lung infection and can cause deep chest pain. It can cause cough, fever or cough accompanied with pus.
Cardiac related chest pain feels deeper not superficial. It may radiate to your throat, arms and even jaws. Pain gets aggravated by exertion and lying down makes it worse.
Stay safe and do not neglect chest pain. Remember, timely intervention can save lives.
