Understanding GST for laymen.............
I raise this subject because a local newspaper carried some days ago on what GST would be applicable for what items from next month. But then that information was limited to a few items only.
Fact is that different products would be subjected to different GST.
My layman's understanding tells me that sellers should w.e.f. July 01, 2017 be equipped with equipment/machinery which would be able to automatically decide correctly what GST is to be charged for what item of purchase. And this machinery should be available at the checkout counters.
Strange, however, is that one does not see such machines in most of the shops today.
And this leaves with the question which I float to the general public to throw light upon.
How does one foresee the practical functioning of the system?
Unless a sale is "properly" registered, how will the seller submit his "taxes" to the IT authorities? more
