Unfair Consumer policies of some of the Service Sectors in India

Dear Friends,
I have been observing some of the Unfriendly looting tactics in the name of Refund Policy mostly in the service Sector of India. These policies are nothing but “Looting” & Profiteering the consumers. In the interest of the Indian Consumers there is dire need for Strict Regulation to curb such kind of Policies. Some of the instances I am enumerating hereinbelow :-
1. When we book hotels, tour packages, they mention Refund policies. In many cases I have observed that in case booking is cancelled as early as 7 days prior to Check in or tour date, still they charge 100% of the full price. Is it justified that they charge 100% amount even if no services are rendered, booking is cancelled due to valid or emergency reason, it is pick season & they have not incurred any loss & also they also fill up the vacancies by accepting new booking by charging premium? Isn’t it Looting the consumers? In case no services are rendered they shall be allowed to charge or retain maximum 30% of the total price. Don’t you think government interference, strict regulation is required for this in the broad interest of the consumers?
2. In the multiplex, when we go to watch movie, as a matter of policy they don’t allow to carry any food, eatables or even water bottles, just for the reasons that they want consumers to buy eatables or water bottles from them at exorbitant price. This monopolistic practices need to be stopped. If spectators are allowed to carry food purchased from them in the theatres, why they are not allowed to carry their own food.
I hope government will bring the law or administer strictly if any existing law in this regard. Expression of views of other members in this regards is solicited. more

Really unfair policy need to be changed. more
This is a serious concern for the passengers and government should come out with certain policies and protection also should be given to the tour operator. more
It is a sin to be living in lawless, undisciplined and corrupt India. Everywhere there is Govt patronized / blessed DADAGIRI. more
0 cancellation is applied most of the places like Hotel/Holiday booking, Flight booking, Movie booking, All prepaid fees collected by Govt. (Passport fees, Driving licence fees, school fees govt/pvt). Nothing will be returned to customer. Now a days on all our transaction, GST is charged. On full cancellation or partial cancellation GST amount also not returned back. It is sure that canceled transactions are not shown to GOVT. Hence this GST amount is also a very good profit making tool. more
At the outset consumer protection act of 1986 needs immediate amendment & the consumer law should be much more stringent as in past 5-7 years e commerce has flourished to the extent that offline trade is getting the heat, online services available in hotel, food , travel & Banking & Insurance are just a click away. So in view of the same the law must be amended so the malpractices can be curbed. I just booked tickets with go ibibo last week and now when 2 Days before journey I tried to cancel neither the call centre was reachable nor website was functioning , even the e mail to customer care got bounced. so its pathetic & the wonderful govt of india is a time pass govt good for nothing. bhavuk sahni more
