Unsubstantiated allegations against Sterlite

An “activist” group is reported to have issued some statement that Sterlite has spread arsenic and caused cancer in Tuticorin. A leading English newspaper has published this prominently. Should not the media be fair and independent ?

This is extremely an unfair attempt to tarnish the reputation of an organization with information , that are not scientifically established or accepted by independent scientists who have no vested interests.

Many engineers and technologists with vast experience have repeatedly pointed out that many allegations against Sterlite are not borne by facts. Unfortunately, it has become difficult to get such news published in the media.

The matter is now before the Green Tribunal and let us wait for the verdict.

Let not the fate of projects in Tamil Nadu be decided on the streets and by motivated negative campaign.

The state and Central govt. should take stern action against the newspaper and the Activists without any publicity and punish them severely. more
Unfortunately in India common man do not have faith either with Central or State govts. because the administration is very very highly corrupt. Simply blaming foreign hands is not at all correct. If the way permission /licence given to this factory does not have any loopholes then why for the GOVt it is not easy to convince the people and media? The behaviour of our leaders sow only suspicion. First they have to come up to the expectation of the public. more
There is no doubt in Sterlite issue , there is an international plot cum conspiracy anti INDIAN to curb the development of INDIA. A civil war waged by the developed countries like Cina ,Amrika using the people of our own country INDIA The basic need for any growth is 3M 1- Men with good IQ , WHICH IS AVAILBLE IN PLENTY IN South INDIA . 2- Machine – this include Power ( Electricity, transport like Road etc ). 3- Money – As India is economically Rich, but money wise poor. As people need not earn even one dollar ( 70 Rupees) per day for their food need. Hence need to survive is very much economical. This made India very competitive in the global market ( eg Garments manufactured in Tiruppur sold for less than one dollar for export market ) even for indian people minimum Rs.150 /- Thus what ever produced in our country will be price wise competitive. Even in global economic crisis period Only india did not feel any crisis. This proved to the developed countries jealous. that made them to make sabotage attempts using our people to stop all developmental activities , stop all production first to create Power shortage hence these protesters were paid money to stop kuudan kulam, then at Kanyakumari dist. Colachal Harbour was put under hurdles to Stop progress, because if Colachel harbor comes Srilanka will ( CHINA) loose its importance in Harbor utilization. Also India will start using the harbor to export the produce of INDIA including automobile parts. Same approach on the salem Express way, By closing one unit of copper the whole india will face the crisis of copper import at high price like crude and there is no industry without copper like motor, home appliances , agriculture Pumps , solar panels , power generators home wiring etc etc and all these industries in spread across India will be in trouble. Neutrino also as now ISRO started 30 years ago is now getting orders across the globe and developed countries are loosing their share of business. Defense corridor also if we start manufacturing we will start exporting to other countries. The worst role played is MEDIA .Only in India media also do anti ruling politics . for eg there was a forest fire in a country people media talk on rescue and keep the families in faith , 13 child struck in a cave whole world media kept the hope of the families till they were rescued no one blamed the government. they were with the government in supporting the rescue operation ...... more
People will agitate if they are aggrieved and they do not get justice. If lives and livelihood is saved they will not agitate. But both the central and state Govts have taken nine lives in Tutucorin for a project and are Jailing hundreds of Farmers for a road.Media will be doing injustice if it does not project these incidents. It is upto the Govt to convince the people with positive action to uplift their living conditions by some announcements followed by action. People are not ready to believe their Govts as they have been only threatening actions. more
Sir, BJP and its IT wing also spreading lot of videos backed by Sterlite. They are telling copper shortage is prevailing due to the shout down. And also copper scrape also demand due to the shout down. One side people are still protest to shout down and one side very eager to reopen the unit. If media appose BJP their are anti social and anti Indians, the common people who protest against BJP are naxalites. For example if I ask how Nirmala Seetharaman provided army air ambulance to O.Paneerselvam's brother, I became anti Indian. more
One need not ask why army ambulance but insist on army ambulance to all depending upon the need. more
I agree with you. Even while agitations were going on i didnt accept it.If the pollution is the problem then the govt is responsible for it.Because it goes to say that their agencies didnt work properly. why no action was taken by govt against them. It is only politics and counter politics. An industry which has worked for about 20yrs is now termed as dangerous. How they allowed it for 20yrs?Unless the dravidian parties are sent out these problems cannot be controlled. AND THE WORST PART IS ' STERLITE HAS BEEN OPERATING ON THE SAME PREMISES FOR OVER A DECADE AND THE SCARE OF CANCER AND VARIOUS SKIN AND BREATHING AILMENTS HAVE STARTED SURFACING ONLY AFTER THE COMPANY SUBMITTED A PROPOSAL FOR EXPANSION F ITS COPPER SMELTING CAPACITY, RECENTLY ..!!..' more
