Urgent Ask on Imported Foods

Many of the imported foods, with many unknown ingredients are selling and many of them make into diwali gifting. People buy them because they want their gift to be special.

Can FSSAI make it mandatory for imported foods to get its certification before they are allowed to sell in India?

Some of the most questionable foods are those from china taiwan malaysia indonesia thailand etc. more

While we are not in dearth of variety of foods, why our people madly run after such imported items which do not have either the details of the ingredients used or valid certification from the competent authority? However, the FSSAI must look into the matter and ban import of food items without their authorisation. more
Are you saying when food items land they are tested and then given in/out? Wouldnt that lead to lots of corruption and bribery... more
Can you suggest any other option for this? more
Each sweets shop should take the permission of FSSAI or their licence should cancel more
It is mandatory for every Food Business Operator to get Licence or Registration as per FSSA 2006. It be Retailer, Whole-seller, Restaurants, Vendors, Manufacturer, Sweet Shop, Transporter and even religious places serving free langar/Parsad. The only problem lies with intention of Food Safety Authorities. more
All foods imported into India must meet the FSSAI standards. This is the law. All food & beverage (including alochol) imports are tested on arrival at the port/airport and only after the test results confirm that they comply with FSSAI standards are they permitted for clearance. Look for importers name and address and FSSAI licence number on the pack. In case this is missing, then its safer not to buy. more
Good suggestion. more
