Reheating and reusing oils is deadly and this is what restaurants do all the time. Can we all share our experiences and then press fssai to ensure that all restaurants certified by them are not doing so. more

Used Cooking Oil can be used in the manufacture of metal ( Brass,Steel, etc.) cutting, drilling, etc. oil. To re-use as a cooking oil, usability life can be extended - to a very limited extent - if the used oil is blended with about 10% of sesame (Til) oil. I am, afraid, this proposition may not appear acceptable - since (1) some may find the flavor and taste of sesame oil not to be conducive , and (2) the cost of sesame oil is likely to be prohibitive. more
Used Cooking Oil (UCO) can be converted to bio-diesel - a waste to wealth creation strategy. However there is no established collection chain available at present, which is a big opportunity. OMCs(Oil marketing companies) launched a programme to procure UCO and there was a rise in procurement prices of UCO by them - its restricted to few cities only. more
Most of the housewives are reusing same used oil again and again for deep frying because it is total waste of money to throw away used oil affecting budget of every household. My suggestion is-use seed oils like mustard/groundnut/til.. Kids do love Puris and Pakoras-cook for them at home instead of buying from street vendor. Do Not Reuse this oil, used for frying again. Keep it in separate jar. Use a bit of this oil to make gravies,to do steam cooking where little oil is used. This oil used once for deep frying will be used up within a weak to make other dishes. Too much of trans oil is bad for health for every member of family. more
Agree with what you have stated. However, the cost of restaurant food will go up and enforcement by government agencies will be a challenge - many facets ... Individual household practices can only be changed for the better in the long term with government led efforts on awareness / education. Most practical option is to avoid eating out as much as possible. more
Some experts say if the used oil has not turned black, it can be reused within 24 hrs. Any expert in LC should clarify this. more
