It is nice to read the railways thinking of user charge. I had suggested this around 5 years back. Take a user charge which should be paid to the originating and departing stations for maintenance. Also with electrification of the tracks all station space can be used to build infrastructure. Make stations like metro station the first floor for crossing track and the upper floors for commercial use including hotel space for travelers more
We are giving 4% of Income tax as Educational Cess. What's the additional Govt., initiative out of that money? Rather we have forced into Pvt education system day by day. It is absurd to expect distribution of money collected only to originating/destination station for improvement from a central ticketing system. If Railway is unable to manage they can increase ticket fare straight. No political gimmick is required keeping ticket same. more
we have very good laws and policies. But we fail in implementation. Escape by just blaming some one say opposition. Ruling party forgets what it preached while in opposition. some time back there was yearly payment of road tax. it was made life time with a reason that more funds will be available for better roads. later tollgates were introduced. One can see the road conditions after both life tax and tollgates.. more
Rail and Road Ministry should be under one Head. Load / Requirement has to be studied specially for Unviable/Uneconomical projects. Atleast one of them must be Implemented even if it is Unviable/Uneconomical. more
