USER FRIENDLY RAILWAYS :

Dear sirs,
All that the rail users / senior citizens / Lower Berth seekers ask for is an indication of the nature of Berth available , L / M / U . Let the Rail user have the choice before he makes the payment as is offered by the Airlines and Transport sectors. If their choice it is not available they go for other choice like different date , train or even mode .

Instead of flashing ' book only if ' , that comes in the screen while booking . This flash option is forcing the rail user to take a gamble . And if the gamble ends in financial loss for the Rail ticket Booker , it becomes unpalatable . It is not a fair option to be offered to the Customer .

The same issue was raised in August 16 and in a big way which attracted flurry of comments , suggestions .

Some valuable and positive ones that may kindly be taken into consideration .:

"* I can not understand, in DIGITAL INDIA, why the Railways can not display the vacant seats and births to the public, so that they can choose their required ones, as in the Plane booking ?

* It must focus on correcting this kind of legitimate suggestions quickly. This must be a top priority.

* Actually when booking the seat, it should indicate the likely berth to be allotted with a indication whether lower or upper etc and if the passenger is willing for the particular berth he can book the ticket otherwise he can skip the booking . But actually in the present system the availability of the Berth only indicated.

* It is strange that in spite of so much PR exercise by Railway Minister, the smallest thing like seat allocation is still done in the most passenger unfriendly way.

* Its not a big deal for Railways to provide a map of the seat occupancy. If airlines can give it why not Railways. It will give the individual the freedom to choose.

* IRCTC booking software needs overhaul in a such way that the software takes into account the age of the traveller, their relationship such as spouses, children, etc for allotting the numbers or the passengers should be able to choose their required seats.

* IRCTC will not show the berths to be allotted unless and until payment has been received by them and they have booked the ticket, arbitrarily allotting berths , irrespective of the choice .

SUCH POSITIVE SUPPORTIVE SUGGESTIONS SHOULD BE GIVEN A TRY BY THE RAILWAYS TO MAKE RAILWAYS BETTER & TRANSFORM INDIA AND NOT THE SLOGANS ALONE . Jai Hind . more

Why railways can not provide the bogie chart(similar to bus reservation chart) so that passengers can select the required berth. If a non senior citizen requests for a lower berth, it may notify that a lower berth can not be allotted as passenger is young. more
The least they can show is L/M/U, railways can easily add this feature, probably the IRCTC software should be replaced by a new upgraded version more
Yes, It should be implemented. For family/Old age citizens it is highly desirable. more
