One my close relatives had filed a legal suit on me regarding some financial matters. In fact he had made me one of the parties with somebody else and slightly I am inclined towards the individual who had filed the case against me and I wanted to help him in the case by not filing counter. Is it compulsory to hire a lawyer to file counter ? What if I will request the court that I myself will support my case with some arguments and witnesses of my own ? Will the court accept ? Kindly please guide me with relevant sections of the law codes in relevance to my question and how to go about more

Yes,you are at liberty to represent your case without appointing any lawyer. more
Yes. You can always contest your case as "Party-in-person" subjected to the conditions that, you learn the procedures to be followed in the court such as filing applications, getting certified copies etc. and have enough time to visit court on dates till the entire tenure of the case, which would normally be 5 years. In criminal cases, dates are usually given every 15 to 30 days and in civil cases, normally 30 to 45 days. To appear as "Party-in-person" you have to file a simple application in the respective court stating that you want to appear as "Party-in-person" and usually courts do allow. more
Yes, you can contest your own case in any court more
Yes; you can represent yourself in any court. At times, the judge and the court staff, etc. also may guide you (or give suggestions), which you can develop to substantiate your points.. If you are not fluent in speaking (arguing in a court), you can even file written 'affidavits' and 'arguments' - only important points (head lines) of them are to be verbally presented at the appropriate time.... Representing you yourself without engaging an advocate (s) will have many benefits - say, you will not miss-out any (even minot) points; you can speak-out frankly, you can learn the rules & procedures, etc. .... Best wishes for your good intentions and interests... However, still, it is not a good practice to settle the disputes through courts - rather as far as possible, settlement may be done on mutual understanding and trust.... more
Thank You this will help me a lot more
Always better if you do it on your own..no body knows better than you. If you feel fir any legal aid, you can seek request the court for such legal help...or even before hand too through district or state service authority for free counsel, if eligible...all the best.. more
Yes, much better to represent yourself personally in the court. more
