What you mean by pollution? If the pollution of heavy metals then that is not good for those vegetables. Generally, pollutants in such rivers are actually food matter for plants in form of natural manure. Therefore, I do not think there is any danger in eating vegi from such waters. more
Many members have commented in response to what Ms Parvati posted. Folks, is there a way to check the authenticity of her post......."veggies growing in heavily polluted Yamuna"? more
What can we do ??? Where is the government departments ??? more
Simple.Educate public to avoid them.We in Chennai are careful to see that green leaves grown along the drainages are not bought. more
Cleaning of water resources is a must, otherwise we will have lot of medical problems. more
It is time now that we have a population policy of our own - not only on birth but immigration also so that the population policy parameters are maintained. if we don't do that and pointing out that veggies grown in unhygienic situations are sold in the open market has no relevance. We the local circle members should not fall into such trap. In the green revolution started in the 60s Dr M S Swaminadhan and his team has changed the DNA of the seeds to have more output. The consequences are overlooked because feeding the mass was the top priority. Can anybody say that the new generation diseases are not related to such DNA modification? Time to call country wide decisions. Lets begin that. Yes, We can do it. more
