I am 68 years old suffering from occasional Vertigo (momentary spinning lasting for a few seconds) and continuously giddiness sensation. Taking medicine for BP which is under control. All allopathic treatments / medicines do not help. Please suggest alternate medicine / treatments.
There were a good lot of suggestions / advice from friends in the circle. Mt. Krishnamurthy , I want you first analyse the following : * You are 68 and are taking B.P.Medication already . Normally After pronged use of one set of medication , the body doesn't respond and as a result the B.P.goes out of control . But in your case it is under control .Thank goodness . * the next try to investigate if have cervical spondylosis or some mild whip lash injury to the neck bone some time back . This could have been treated medically or healed by itself when young . Now in the same neck bone could have had some mild injury due to jerk . This would have triggered the cervical spondylosis . This can definitely cause giddiness . Vertin may be taken for temporary relief . But start on the neck exercise as Nagaraj had advised . Initially do it sitting down in a chair . when you begin to feel better stop Vertin slowly gradually and start to stand and do the neck exercises. Just 4 simple ones : 1. Move head at neck left right 2. Move head front back .3. Bend head to shoulders left right 4. Rotate head clockwise anti clock wise . BUT DO ALL THESE SITTING IN AN ARM CHAIR FIRST , THEN SWITCH TO STANDING . * Now that you have found having continuous giddiness you have to be cautious of ORTHOSTATIC B.P. or POSTURAL HYPERTENSION . That is when you change your position from lying to sitting or to standing , the brain needs time for blood supply to reach . In such situations you may get giddiness when sufficient blood doesn't go to the brain . It is good you are aware of your body to take sufficient precaution . When you change your posture, that is when you get up pause for a good 1/2 minute [30 slow count - when you get up from the bed in the morning wake up sit in the bed for 1/2 minute , another 1/2 minute when you put your feet down then another 1 /2 minute when you stand , all to stabilize yourself before taking the step . ]stabilize yourself allow blood supply to reach the brain then walk . Once on the feet there is no worry . This is from my personal experience . I am fine now and walk briskly for 5 K.M. every day. YOU CAN ALSO DO IT IN 3 MONTHS TIME - ALL THE VERY BEST . more
I had faced this problem since 3 years and taken some English medicine for temporary containment by ENT and Neuro, also some physiotherapy exercise is mentioned for head and it is very useful and symptoms are no more also I take some Ayurveda for nervous system called Maharasnadi and Gargling from Kottakal vaidyashala, please check more
you can put one finger in each ear canal and hold it for a few minutes. Will reduce vertigo and give relief if it is positional vertigo or a sinus related problem or an imbalance in the ears/sinus! more
I also suffer from vertigo occasionally when I get palpitation and exhaustion due to stiffness at the neck. Frequent neck excercises relieving the catch with a Tak sound gives relief. No use of any medicine as they have side effects and harmful in long run. Only Yoga is solution for most old age problems. more
