VIP convenience, citizen inconvenience

15 escort vehicles, an ambulance, a police van, about 50 police personnel to block traffic on the busy Bull temple road in Bangalore for about 2 hours in the morning on a weekday. The reason being that the Vice President was on a personal visit. No vehicles were allowed on a 750m stretch of the road. School, college, office going citizens had to walk the stretch and some had to wait for the VIP to leave before they could take out their vehicles. And once the convoy left, we had to wait for a few minutes to cross a small stretch of road because all the blocked traffic was on the move and there was no police to help us cross. Removing beacon lights from VIP vehicles is not a solution. The VIPs should stop inconveniencing citizens with their exclusive movement on the roads and public places. more

One more VIP inconveniencing citizens. Bangalore mysore expressway will be closed to traffic on 12th March (Sunday) FOR 12 HOURS from 6am to 6pm, for the inauguration by the PM. And definitely road closures all along the route he and his convoy travel. Is this really necessary? Cam we not learn some good things from the developed countries, where I think such kind of citizen inconvenience does not happen. https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/karnataka/vehicles-on-bengaluru-mysuru-expressway-to-be-diverted-to-alternative-routes-on-march-12-inauguration-prime-minister-narendra-modi/article66594818.ece more
