Wage increase to transport staff with no concern.

Tamil Nadu transport staff have gone on strike demanding higher wages, with least concern for paralysing the state and inconveniencing thousands of people in lower income group all over the state.

They are demanding more wages and the government has given increase which appears to be quite high but the staff say is not enough.

No one knows what should be the upper level for wages.

Neither the transport workers nor the government is talking about efficiency , productivity factors and the need to link the same with higher salary levels.

As the image of the ministers are marked by low calibre and neither the workers nor the people have confidence in them, the government would bend down to the muscle power of the unions ultimately in one way or the other .

In any case, the fact is that government of Tamil Nadu is now facing nearly insolvent conditions, with no money even for development projects.

At the same time, the state government is setting bad example by raising the salary and perks to the MLAs and wasting money in several non productive activities and with corruption in the government machinery now remaining at near peak level.

The only way now is to realise that such huge loss incurring companies such as transport corporation has to be necessarily entrusted to private sector to save the government from further sliding into financial crisis.

The problem here is that in the choice of companies for privatisation , the ministers and bureaucrats will demand huge bribe.

What do the ministers and bureaucrats care about future of the state and the reputation of the government ?

Fully agree for privatisation to derive benefits to people. If any one happens to travel to Trichy, Madurai, Karaikudi etc, people are happy with private luxury new buses both town and route buses, at a lower fare than transport fare and its attended benefit of video and songs. Privatisation alone will bring competition and free the people from the clutches of rude transport employees, old uncomfortable buses, high prices, monopoly etc. This will save our tax burden which goes waste with transport employees luxury, perks, allowances, bonus etc but without productivity. Let us all raise voice for privatisation in chennai for the attended benefits more
There is no real thinking and real administration in Tamilnadu. High time people elected qualified people to become ministers. All the politicians obsessed with is how to remain in power and amass wealth. The welfare of the people is a forgotten issue. more
Since public are involved they are taking undue advantage . Government is in trouble as they are afraid of public. Politicians take advantage and back union to have political gain. What can be done. Knowing the facts public are keeping quiet more
Because of these politicians the workers would demand higher wages, incentives, bonus and all other benefits merely based on their signing the daily attendance register. They are least bothered about productivity, efficiency etc. What is the guarantee that these very politicians do not start private transport companies and swindle the public very comfortably. Best solution could be abolition of all transport corporation and run the transport services by the govt.itself as an expenditure department and welfare measure. more
