I am a patient, 80+ years, with a by-pass heart surgery in 2003. Angina with blocked arteries were diagnosed. In 2010 I was diagnosed diabetic. I have been in and out of the AIIMS-Delhi for minor but worrying cardiac attacks. After my July 2017 discharge from short admission in aiims-d, I am very much better, I consider, for two reasons: I am strictly following the diet prescribed by the Dietitian on the basis of the test reports and the medicines prescribed. Medication has come down from some 10-12 tables to three: Alcitrome on alternate days 2mg and 3mg, Dietor 10mg in the morning and 10mg after lunch. My diabetes is wonderfully controlled; No more injections, but take Glizid 80 in the mornikng and evening before taking food, and 40mg before lunch. After discharge in July, frustrated with the out-of-control of sugar level, I started taking Onion, Garlic, and giner dipped in Jamun Sirka ( ) two-three times in a week which positively brought down the sugarl level. Plus, I take Darcheeni and ginger or dry ginger (Sonth) boiled with tea. In this winter, I am additionally taking Calcium with D3. No vitamins as supplements. For my chronic constipation, I take fruits like guava, papeeta, and apple in sufficient quantities and hot milk at night after dinner, and it helps me purge the refuse regularly morning evening. I have reduced morning and evening food intake to one chapati/slice, two boiled eggs and light overnight leftover vegetable. I do regular physical exercise in the morning, along with a 5-10 minutes walk. In the evening also I take a short 5 minutes walk after dinner, weather permitting. My suggestion is that you may take my personal experience to your doctor and dietitian for consultation and follow up, if it is okay with you. Then report in this forum. more
