Waste Recycling – Solutions

1. Manufacturing of plastic bags below the prescribed limit should be completely banned
2. More waste recycling units should be established in rural as well as urban India
3. Waste recycling should be recognized as an industry
4. Public enterprises should be allowed to set up waste recycling units
5. Research and development facilities should be established to find newer breakthrough in waste recycling
6. People collecting waste should be trained
7. Separate dustbins should be installed for recyclable and non-recyclable waste in different places
8. People should be trained to segregate waste at home level
9. People should be educated about waste management
10. Awareness drives should be organised across India
11. India should collaborate with other countries who have been pioneers in waste recycling
12. Latest equipment should be acquired to assist in waste recycling
13. Indian Government should promote the technology to convert waste to power
14. Recyclables should be picked up from door to door
15. While giving license, for new industry or builders, recycling should be made compulsory
16. A few model programs must be set up across major cities of the country

Generally perishable wastes are put inside the polythene (Plastic) bags and thrown in to the dust bins or on the street corners. Inview of eatable wastes are within the covers dogs, crows, and even cattles tear the perishable waste covers and throw all lover the road and make the road ugly and smelling bad.The Local body Big Dust Bins must have lids to prevent the birds and animals to open it. The people must be trained to put the covers inside the Bins only and not to throw them from a distance anound the Bin. more
KINDLY SUGGEST USEFUL INDIGENOUS GARBAGE PROCESSING/RECYCLING MACHINE STARTING FROM 1 TON CAPACITY.GOVT SHOULD HELP PROVIDE SUCH MACHINERIES WHICH ALSO HELP GENERATE POWER AND MANURE OR ANY OTHER USEFUL BYPRODUCT.THIS WILL BOOST SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN. more
The problem of plastic wastes can be solved by allowing private agencies to collect, segregate and coordinate with local Govt. to use the same for manufacture of "Bitumen" from daily collections. Immediately the bitumen may be utilized for road laying on day to day basis. The municipalities/Corporations shall come forward and do it as a priority. Let every local Govt. follow this for effective disposal of plastic waste. more
Rain water harvest should be made a must is all buildings ( govt/pvt/house/commercial establishment....) Those who do not comply should be penalised by terminating power / water connection. the tax for those building should be doubled. Regarding solid waste, new technologies are to be encouraged by state govts and central govts. In TamilNadu only one co. is known for recycling of e-waste. That too is not functioning in full swing because of lack of patronage. Tax exemptions should be given for those industries involved in recycling of waste. separation of degradable waste and non-degradable waste should be introduced in school education. school / collage students should be trained to get the knowledge and skill of converting the waste to product using creativity. There should be an method to calculate waste generated by industries and should be taxed for the same accordingly. community bio-gas kitchens should be constructed in all villages by state govt with cental govt's support. The same should be maintained by the group of individuals who can use the same free of cost.power from these plants can be used for the street lights. This helps to reduce the burden of LPG subsidy to the govt. The waste is recycled effectively and the manure from these plants can be used by those group of individuals who maintain these plants. sewage treatment plants are to be upgraded with power generating plants from the sewage. The treated sewage water should be used by the infrastructure developing companies for other than their human needs. This should be made a must in METROS where more treatment facility is available and no of infra structure development activities are more. Industries should be set in a cluster so that the waste from one industry will be raw material for an other industry. Or same type of industries are to be set in an area so that, waste from all the industries will be of similar and easy to handle. Importing waste form other countries in any form should be ban. Ship-breaking, e-wastes, scraped machinery industries should be monitored closely. There is no separate yards for collection of degradable and non degradable waste in any municipal / town/ village /city. The non degradable waste like earth cuttings, debris from demolished buildings, roads etc should be dumped into the quarry where the earth has been cut too deep. (land filling) more
Waste Management and technology is developing fast in western countries( Specially Holland , Germany and more European countries . The ready made technology package can be available through international agreement and easy available with accepting Terms and Condition of the patent holder . Different kinds of domestic wastes ( like food waste , bio-degradable waste, non bio degradable etc) are segregated at parental houses itself by imposing strict enforced Rules and laws enacted by the concerned countries. Violators are strictly penalized by imposing fines etc. Just an example I would like to say that many EU countries are making fodders for pigs and hatchery birds out of these food wastes . The waste management industries have brighter prospect if it is opened to the private entrepreneurs. more
