Waste Segregation action taken on inputs

Based on your inputs last year, we have requested all municipalities to conduct distribution of color coded bins (2 bins per household), such that the waste is segregated at source itself. The recommended colors are as following:

1) Green Bin for Wet Waste (ex: biodegradables)
2) Blue Bin for non-biodegradable and other kinds of waste

If you have inputs on how this can be effectively accomplished, please do share with us.

In case your municipality has begun the process, do let us know how it is working.

Blue, green and red, three types of dustbins are required. In bigger societies like ATS around 6000 (3000x3) dustbins would be required. The trucks can be sent by colour codes, like Sundays red, Mondays blue, and Tuesdays green, then repeat. I had sent a request at Mygov to buy garbage from people, so that they do not throw it on roads. Without incentive people will not listen. Once the habit of cleanliness is built, our country will become a role model for other Asian countries. Thanks more
Waste Disposal is a chain of Events, even if one unit doesn't do it's job, Whole chain efforts goes in vain. more
In stead of 2 it should be 3. A red bin must be provided for medical, biological & wastes which can be classified as dry or wet waste. more
Wonderful idea. But till now there is zero implementation. We have to educate all the people for this purpose and also the importance of doing this. Otherwise it would very difficult to implement it. more
Good idea but zero implementation more
