Waste Segregation - Inputs Needed

In previous years, in India only 12% of the waste collected has been treated or processed.

With this post, we would like to seek your specific inputs on how waste can be effectively segregated at source or up the supply chain so more waste can be treated, processed and recycled.

We look forward to very specific inputs that will help us drive effective waste segregation at the source (home, industrial, offices/markets) or at the municipal/disposal level.

We look forward to your inputs!

Guys, I write this email for your perusal and this is about in what ways we could help keep our Mother India clean and plastic-free. I hope the policy makers take this keenly for their perusal and do their best to implement this. Proposed Solution: Waste Recycle Tax (Refundable) for plastic goods or goods sold in plastic Idea Description: While we all know that plastic waste can be recycled we still have plastic waste as one of the biggest threat posing danger to the clean India (Swachh Bharath). The most important reason I think for this situation is that the plastic waste do not have a significant monetary value to it, even the rag pickers(who contribute a lot to a Plastic-free India) picks only the plastic waste that are of some value. So if we add a value to the waste then not just the rag pickers but every citizen will be collecting their plastic waste for its value. A classic example of a shampoo sachet after use, is not collected and mostly thrown as a waste that never gets recycled and remains a non-biodegradable waste for hundreds of years speaks the case. Solution Description: All plastic goods and goods sold in plastic containers (like sachets, bottles, bags, etc) should be sold with significant, say 25% of the product value as Waste Recycle Tax (WRT). WRT should be paid by the manufacturers to the government and this WRT should get cascaded till the customer. Upon returning the plastic waste to the reseller the customer should get the WRT - Refund and the same model of WRT-Refund should get cascaded till the government returning the WRT collected from the manufacturer upon receiving some proof about the quantity of waste recycled. The interest from this tax earned by the government can help us build the plastic waste recycle plants and for solving other environmental issues. Hope you like this idea to help clean our society and make it plastic free more

Municipal authorities if become honest, there shall be no issue On Tuesday, 21 July 2015 2:22 AM, Swachh Bharat Mission wrote: more
We are into waste management for corporate and residents as well..being in this field for the last 5 years I can say we don't need technology to sort out this problem. The BMC and other municipal authorities should now act like a watch dog instead of providing services. Let the private players come into the scene. We have got many corporates and high end residencies strictly sorting waste at source and we are replicating our success to other cities too. Give company like ours industry recognition and growth incentives. We have been able to recycle 100% waste collected from all our clients. Wake up to the segregation, collection and recycling industry. more
