Water scarcity in chennai - an alarming issue

Water scarcity in chennai, has become an serious issue. Nobody seems to take any note of the same. Most of the lakes has become dry. Approching summer will really be telling on the residents of chennai. TN Govt should make alternative arrangements. Convert sea water to drinking water, as in many foreign countries, and not wait or pray for rains. Climate changes is already being felt all around the world. Water being the basic need for all. more

It is suggested dredged and shores may be kept intact to increase the water storage capacity and avoid further encroaching. Prefer to have walking and cycling tracks may be made along the perifery as well as some play ground for games so that public health improves as well as water storage for summer. more
It is a matter of concern indeed. Preservation of existing lakes and water bodies is of immense need. It may be noted that so many water bodies are being filled for real estate. One of the lake near Meenakshi Engg college, vembuliamman koil street, virugambakkam, Chennai 600092 is being occupied by some one is in the process of filling with soil. This water body was keeping ground water level in near by places. Now ground water is getting depleted. There may be so many cases like this. No political or environmentalist is not serious. more
More desalination plant has to be installed more
Let us not blame the Leaders and administrators. They work for short time no long time. Take sa look at the rain water harvesting What has happened to that. With the cash free flow every one thing he can purchase from where. Once NT Rama Rao gave water by train daily. Have we planned. The Government is silent and most of the areas the water tankers by the Government is available only after 7 days of booking. No water in the tap.People should be encouraged not to waste water, Constructions should be stopped till water is plenty, For garden etc recycle the water and provide. Association and gated community should encourage and educated the residents to save water and reduce the consumption. Star Hotel etc should be asked to reduc their in take and exercise control and discourage people to stay for long. more
