Ways to Reduce Corruption

I fully agree with Mr Virmani's analysis of the causes which sustain corruption. Many of us have some special requirements or some handicaps. It is these that the corrupt feed on. Let us take a few examples:- (1) A person is in a hurry to get some work done:- Well why not have a system of "Tatkal" where fast track processing is done at an additional price paid to the Government Treasury. (2) A Senior Citizen can not stand in line or make repeated trips to the office to get his work done:- Well why not have a single window system for Senior Citizens where prior to the visit, the Senior Citizen can query on Internet or Telephone what all documents are required. On arrival at the single window, the documents and forms are checked, verified and a receipt given, informing when the requirement can be collected or is completed. This will do away with Agents who thrive on long lines of waiting and complicated procedures which require loads of time and numerous visits. It will also give additional revenue which otherwise goes to the Agent (Tout). more

I am sorry but I do not agree that govt should open a Tatkaal window, not because I do not agree with the idea but because as usual solution to every problem seems to be to advise what the govt should do. Question is can WE too do something. My suggestion is to create Resident friendly Single Window Service Centres in our neighbourhoods to deal with plethora of government offices. Objective - Middle Man - Yes, Middle Money - NO. more

Excellent idea, I fully support. more
The fact does remain that most of us want help in getting our work with government offices done through some one - either due to genuine lack of time to attend to these tasks on working days or simply due to that we simply find it convenient to outsource such works to someone. Many of the Corporates help their employees in getting their such tasks done so that employees get rid of tensions in getting such jobs done and continue to focus on their work to maintain a high level of productivity. We could in a similar manner create support structure in our community for such things. Members/ households could pay adequate service charge like we all pay for Maintenance of the Society/ Colony. Platforms like Local Circles would of course be useful to launch such services. more
Extremely good write up Vivekji, I agree with U more
