We also need talk about alternate systems of medicine like Ayurveda, Homeopathy etc. in managing cardiac patients. To me the Allopathic system of medicine itself need be questioned, as is happening in foreign countries both for cardiac care and other maladies. Unfortunately we have allowed the pharmaceutical industry, and training of Allopathic doctors to take the upper hand by spending too much money to create colleges, doctors and hospitals, that we only talk about that particular system of medicine. Our native systems have been starved of funds, and as it is less controlled, fakes to have proliferated in not only in alternate systems, but even in Allopathic system. With the result the patients have been given a raw deal. Decades ago, in the Hindu Sunday magazine I read a discussion of 8 experts, one each from Yoga, Allopathy, Homeopathy, Unani, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Reiki, and Acupuncture, explain their system of cure and the good and bad results of their system . This discussion ran for 2 or 3 weeks and in the end they came to the conclusion that none of the system can answer all ailments with full efficacy all the time. We need such discussions to create awareness of all systems of medicines, and also to give all such practitioners space for developing their system of medicine. Today, Allopathy has become prohibiitvely expensive for most of us. svs more
