We are consumers when we pay a doctor as well as pay fees for a student.
When we talk about consumer rights we talk about GST,MRP, correct weight etc. But main issues related to college fees and doctor's charges are not discussed. more
Yes, we must discuss on the issues raised by Mr. Sidramsa Bhoomkar. Surprisingly, these very important issues depriving majority of our people from educating their children in reputed (so called) educational institutions, giving proper medical care to their families, getting justice in courts due to inability to present their legitimate causes before the courts through a competent lawyer and so on. Its high time now that we prominently focus on these social causes instead of wasting our time and energy on charging GST etc. on discounted prices etc., which is continued to be in the centre point of our discussion since introduction of the GST in July,2017. Its enough now that we focus on other important social causes right from now. more
It is true receipts are not given generally. But when demanded they give the receipt. But the issues are different like 1, We hesitate to ask bill either in shop or at doctors. 2.Are the bills given are genuine? They are not cross checked as they remain with consumers only. 3. Receipts given in some other purpose like "building fund" Best example is Petrol pumps where no one asks for bill except those who need for reimbursement. It is true they give bill to those who demand. When we do not even ask for receipts where is the issue of discussion on that. We heed some cultural change, more
Whether it is Doctors/Hospitals or Lawyers or CAs., or Teachers/Educational Institutions, there is an urgent need to have a reasonable fee structure making it obligatory to either give proper receipts for any sum of fee/charges received by them or mandatory to accept payment only through Cheques/Net Banking. It is for the Government of the day to seriously look into this issue in the best interest of the nation, so as not only to curb generation of black money but also to ensure that common man is not allowed to be looted by burdening them exorbitant charges for essential services. It is absolutely incorrect to justify such exploitation of citizens by citing the amount of money spent by Doctors on their education! One must also note that medical education in Government institutions is highly subsidized by the Tax-payer. more
Sir, in case we are comparing the cost of education with Govt colleges being sibsidized with tax payers money, then in that case I would like to say that even the treatment in the Govt hospital is almost free specially in Delhi where even the medicine is provided free of cost. Secondly the fee in Govt medical colleges may be subsidized, who is going to subsidize for the cost of books. Secondly if the cost of treatment in the hospitals is almost free then where is point of discussion on the fee being charged by the doctors. One of my friend son wanted to open a clinic, surprisingly he was not being able to get the space less than rental value of Rs. 25,000/- per month or so. Similar situation is in the court also where also less fee chargeable advocates are also available. I feel the fee fixation by the Govt for any profession may not a logical demand else the Govt should do it for all services and let there be a cap on the capitalism that could be created by any person. more
