We had discussed the Emergency Quota in Railways. However, I have been told that lot of misuse occurs through railway passes that are given to railway employees. Apparently all 13 lakh Railway employees get these and they are not properly tracked leading to misuse by them and their families.

The only point here is that the reservation if genuinely utilised by Railway staff is OK, but its misuse by favouring the people has to be stopped just like MP quota or any other quota is also misused as the common man does not get the reservation because of this menace. There has to be some regulating body to oversee all this as the misuse can't be left to deptt. or people to observe a code of conduct. more

the senior citizens have consumed their life doing work in society and have contibuted through taxes for countries progress and future.At the time when they become dependent they need support.In all the countries including advanced ones there is lot of schemes and concessions to make their life better.This is the duty of government to take care of their senior cityzens. more

Two points which I would like to raise, though not regarding free passes. Why should fare concessions be extended to Sr citizens at all? It is my impression that in any 2 tier or 3 tier AC compartment almost 25% passengers are Sr. Citizens ! This is an avoidable loss of revenue. 1. Passengers should be eligible for senior citizen's previlage only after the age of say 75 years because nowadays people remain active well beyond 60. 2. The hot beverage served should be given in an externally marked cup so that the passengers are aware of the quantity to be received from the vender. more
