In 365 days, we have 52 weeks, in a week 7 days. Two of them are holidays. Thus, it is 104 holidays. Privilege leave - 30 days, Sick leave -15 days, Casual leave- 10 days and National holidays - 15. This sums up to 159 holidays out of 365. One can always have holidays outside the ones mentioned. We can go home early on any working day in the name of emergency. Our work culture is thus defined. Courts have further privileges of vacations, as if others do not work. The judges permit adjournments without asssigning justifiable reasons. Lawyers encash on this. Litigants are helpless. Procedures at courts are so outdated that it takes atleast 3-6 months to register your case and the dates between two adjournments is 2-3 months. When you case comes up on the board, the judge is busy hearing other cases. Therefore, your case is adjourned. Many a times, the judge himself is absent for reasons explained above. Then why crib, justice delayed is justice denied? Why shout from roof-tops? After 70 years of Independence, it is only the higher courts which feel that they should avoid vacations. What about others? This is another political ploy by the judicial system. The easiest way to go ahead is all submissions should be written, duly supported by evidences. Thorough scrutiny of both should be done by the court staff, appointed specifically for this. A summary of the plaint and the questions arising therefrom should be put up before the judge in a time-bound manner. Hearings should be consistent with the matter and adjournments restricted to a maximum of 3. There has to be a time-bound programme for delivery of the order. This appears to be the most practical way of reducing time limits at courts. Opinions may differ. more

This just hog wash. The need of hour is to bring improvement in procedure of trial court. It is old but never want to improve that. All other improvement will not fetch you result given by system improvement. more

The Solution cannot be solved so long the corruption is at its peak. To beat corruption the real path is appoint more Judges right from root level to Supreme Court see that disposal does not involve long unreasonable time. We are democrat hence need of hour is more judges more courts and speedy disposal let everyone get chance to redress but also sud get justice in time more

This is one of most welcome news. Now let us hear from them their target to clear pending cases. It is shame that millions of cases are pending over 10 years. Will judiciary come with exact figures and their program to clear them. Let them follow their own punchline "Justice delayed is justice denied" more
