Weight loss and gain supplement - lever failure

We had some doctors in the family over this weekend and one of them is a lever specialist and he was telling me how weight loss and gain supplements are playing a big role in lever failure.

My question is - how is FSSAI ensuring that only safe products are permitted to be sold or do these products come under drugs and pharmaceuticals? more

FSSAI has to share reports of these? more
It is true that most of the ingredients are not disclosed by manufacturer and advertisers. This has to be stopped by subjecting all weight loss and wt gain formulations to the scintific scrutiny of experts and Fsssai and untill then they must not be allowed to be sold in to the markets. Even advertisements are not ethical untill it is proved to be safe for human use. more
LIver failure is pathologic regarding the body. Lever failure you should go to a mechanic depending upon your machine. That apart, drugs like ORLISTAT come under the drugs controller. Supplements come under a category called nutraceuticals for which there are no standards prescribed.Even in US they do not come under FDA. As drugs they are strictly controlled. What is sold by ads in TV and magazines is bought by gullible people. These sometimes contain heavy metals and may cause LIVER or kidney failure. more
The doctors who raise this issue of lever failure are more qualified to answer this than the members of the Forum. It is always the prime duty of a doctor to raise alarm if they find some ailments due to some treatments recommended in the market. Even if the organisation which recommends weight loss and weight gain do not have qualified doctors they are answerable to the Government. If there is a doubt about the product recommended by them why not Doctors in a city join and consult to find the true reason for the real lever failure and test the product also. Please request your family doctors to investigate for the sake of genuine treatment for the common man. more
Truly said. The Doctor must check with the FSSAI. The Multi National Organisations are producing as per international standards and the World will stand to benefit if Proved against. Normally these products are Safe. more
The perview of FSSAI has to be extended as "unlimited" more
