WELCOME FEATURES in IRCTC e- BOOKINGS RECENTLY INTRODUCED :

The new facility introduced by the Railways in e- ticket booking without logging is really useful and most welcome . One can go on till chosing the train,availability of the ticket and allows time to make decisions , log in just before booking the ticket . It saves a lot of time for the passenger . What best is it is more objective, taking [guiding ]the passenger to where he should go rather than beat around.
It is so good and easy to open ; it doesn't allow you to book till there is a confirmed seat / berth .

THAT IS MOST WELCOME as our complaints were that IRCTC allowed us to keep groping these years and book tickets that had to be cancelled at a cost for the passengers for no flat of theirs when unwanted tickets were delivered.m LIKEWISE WHEN THE BERTH of CHOICE of PASSENGER is NOT AVAILABLE, OTHER CONFIRMED OFFERS APPEAR, LIKE in DIFFERENT TRAINS , DATES . THAT IS PRETTY GOOD and DOESN'T ALLOW YOU TO BOOK UNCONFIRMED TICKETS and LOOSE LATER ON CANCELLATION . -Exactly what we wanted.

WHEN BERTH OF YOUR CHOICE IS NOT AVAILABLE IT ADVISES US TO GO to THE COUNTER to DO THE BOOKING .

This we should welcome as the IRCTC doesn't take our money to book first before confirming and later forcing us to cancel at our cost .The passengers got what they wanted .

Kindly try out without logging in and see for yourselves the new features .

A corollary to this is THE UNWANTED, ILLEGITIMATE ENTRANTS INTO RESERVED COMPARTMENTS CAN BE PENALIZED OR DETRAINED .

No doubt 2 birds in a stone . But gear up for the Challenges sirs.

In some film, the Police Inspector says that in this country "you are treated as a hero if you simply do your duty even 50%". True the agency handling the railway tickets IRCTC, has unveiled a new web page. People's memory is very short and it is proved once again. This webpage was once tried 3 years back and the prolific users of IRCTC webpage must be remembering this. It used to take us to NGET page. The current avatar is only that. That means, it took 3 years for IRCTC to reload this page. But I am not amused with this development. 1. This page is heavily loaded with more pictures, ads and messages. Many a time, it take much time to open fully. 2. The Log in page where when one uses tab button, after putting in user id, when pressed tab it goes to the password field and when again press tab, it does not go to the catchapa field. This is inconvenience. 3. When seeking train list for a particular pair of stations, it shows say 15 trains for Nagpur to Durg. It displays the list more haphazardly. The first train leaves durg at 2200 hrs, next train leaves at 1430 and the next 1830 , some thing like this. In the previous avatar, we used to get the train list by the arrival time. This is creating too much confusion particularly during Tatkaal time. 4. Similarly when fetching booked tickets history, the display do not follow any pattern either by departure date or by booked date. One has to seek the information. The default should be departure date. 5. Similarly in payment page also, the cursor operation is not uptodate. 6. When we ask a conditioned ticket booking, the system debits my account and then flashes a message that ticket is not booked as the desired criteria is not met. This was the condition even in the earlier avatar. When IRCTC knows well that the condition is not being met, then why they should go up to payment page? This bug is also not addressed. On 16.06.18 I tried two tickets like this and I did not get tickets but money of Rs. 1885 and Rs.900 were deducted. Till this moment money not came back. So this new page is appealing by style, colour and display. But I feel it is the same old Wine in a new Bottle by content or facility wise to the customers. IRCTC must have wasted lot of money. more  
RAILWAYs are making lot of efforts in improving the service and of late there is noticeable change. However, there is lot of areas still improvement is needed. It is still following the procedure laid by British Govt. which is required to be revamped. Railway rules are not customer friendly and any genuine request or complaint from passenger is often met with a negative reply under the provisions of the rule.
For the last many decades, Railway administration was rusty and moving with lesser speed. Now it is trying to achieve momentum which is appreciable. more
