What a shame?

From being a two-time bronze medal winner in the Athens Special Olympics in 2011 to selling gol-gappas and papdi chaats, Sita Sahu's tale echoes the story of several sportspersons who have faded into oblivion due to poverty.
The 15-year old Olympian from the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh has been forced to work at a shop owing to financial troubles. A bronze medal in 200 meter relay race and another in the 1,600 meter race was not enough to aid her family of six. Along with three of her siblings, Sita spends her time at home making the base for the chaats in their one-room house in Dhobia Tanki. In the evening, her brother Dharmendra Sahu carries boxes and utensils on a hand-cart to sell the gol gappas under a street light. The family on an average earns Rs.150-180 a day or even less....

This was the reason,I posted for honoring the unsung heroes....

Indian weakness of considering Cricketers as Gods will not allow any true recognition. Afterall they are playing the game like any other game taking Lakhs of rupees per game. There should be end for this. more
Celebrating the achievement of such people by providing financial assistance would be appreciated more
These are the real unsung heroes more
It has been an agony for 60% of Indian Sportsmen/women not being able to lead a Champions life in our motherland. We do not have the Scholarships for Sports as they have in other Countries, UK,US,China,Russia., etc. The Sport event does not contribute that much of a living and for many it goes unnoticed even by their own family, whereas in most of European Countries in the West a Sportsmen are selected in their traits as early as Buds and trained by great Coaches to encouragement and facilities given to them and their families. So we should bring in atleast from our School Levels the Sports Scholarships which should continue till their youth college days and she/he should be supported by the Government Scholarships.
