Drinking water: It's pretty shocking, but lead pipes and plumbing used for supplying drinking water could lead to poisoning due to corrosion.
Kohl or Kajal: Yes that pretty black liner you use to enhance your eyes may also contain lead. So check the label next time you go to purchase your favourite brand of kajal!
Lipsticks: Do you love your red lipstick? There are high chances that they contain lead. Although not in high quantities, the traces of lead in lipsticks can be absorbed through the skin. And beware, if you are using those non-branded ones.
Paints: The paints that you use to add colour to your homes may contain high levels of lead. And when the paint starts chipping, and there is dust everywhere,and you breathe in the lead.
Ceramic dishes: Do you eat your meals in plates coated with ceramic glaze or are hand painted? Well, you are putting your health at risk then. Ceramic glaze is made of lead and eating acidic foods or drinks in ceramic wear can leach lead into the food and increase your exposure.
Vegetables: Yes, this was quite a shocker. Vegetables that are cultivated or grown on soil that is contaminated with lead dust are full of lead, and when we eat them, it enters our system. However, no proper washing or cooking technique can rid of this lead exposure.
Toys: Those brightly coloured toys, the ones that are your child's favourite may also have lead. And if you buy toys at traffic signals, and your child puts it in his mouth often, there are more chances of suffering from lead poisoning. I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HUE N CRY ON BANNING OF MAGGIE ? NO DOUBTS MOST OF THE PRODUCTS IN INDIA ARE SUBSTANDARD AND NOT FIT FOR USE OR EATING. BUT WE / GOVT NEEDS TO MAKE A START SOMEWHERE.. INSTEAD OF APPRECIATING THE WHOLE MAGGIE EATING SOCIETY IS UP AGAINST THIS. RATHER WE SHOULD ENCOURAGE GOVT TO TAKE SUCH STRICT ACTION AGAIN OTHER PRODUCTS TOO. SYNTHETIC MILK AND OTHER SUCH ADULTERATED PRODUCTS MANUFACTURERS SHOULD BE DEALT WITH STRINGENTLY. more

Even though pipes are made of galvanised iron, lead is used to seal joints. Lead is freely sold and used by plumbers as it is easy to use. more

the max scope of lead coming in drinking water is from UG leaching in the bore well water if being used in some areas. more

Vinita ji, In water supply no lead component is used please update your data base.Old connections are GI pipes(Galvanised Iron) and new connections are CVPC (Polystrene).The connectors are either copper or brass and now CPVC with metal. Your water supply is transmitted as it is produced in water treatment plants. more
