Kohl or Kajal: Yes that pretty black liner you use to enhance your eyes may also contain lead. So check the label next time you go to purchase your favourite brand of kajal!
Lipsticks: Do you love your red lipstick? There are high chances that they contain lead. Although not in high quantities, the traces of lead in lipsticks can be absorbed through the skin. And beware, if you are using those non-branded ones.
Paints: The paints that you use to add colour to your homes may contain high levels of lead. And when the paint starts chipping, and there is dust everywhere,and you breathe in the lead.
Ceramic dishes: Do you eat your meals in plates coated with ceramic glaze or are hand painted? Well, you are putting your health at risk then. Ceramic glaze is made of lead and eating acidic foods or drinks in ceramic wear can leach lead into the food and increase your exposure.
Vegetables: Yes, this was quite a shocker. Vegetables that are cultivated or grown on soil that is contaminated with lead dust are full of lead, and when we eat them, it enters our system. However, no proper washing or cooking technique can rid of this lead exposure.
Toys: Those brightly coloured toys, the ones that are your child's favourite may also have lead. And if you buy toys at traffic signals, and your child puts it in his mouth often, there are more chances of suffering from lead poisoning. Watch out for such toys and make sure you buy branded toys that are lead-free. more
