This categorisation is no longer good and lead to healthy society. It is Divisive Vote Bank Concept being garnished and fertilise only to cause disharmony and keep discrimation on top of agenda then level playing ground In any case this is found where HYPOCRACY rule than democracy more
This is why Indian Constitution separately addressed and specifically mandated SC/ST since they possess the qualities of Minority ages together for preferential Government provisions for Education, Economic Development and part in the Rule subject to efficiency.

The Religions are not provided with any preferential Government provisions stipulating that Everyone is at liberty to follow the faith and beliefs of any Religion he realize to practice the beliefs of the Religion and follow.
Constitution also restricted the intervention and indulgence between Religions. more
Muslims are not minority in India. This tag should be removed immediately. more
If Religion or Caste or race or Tribe are considered THERE CANNOT BE ANY JUSTIFIED RULE. ANY RULE SHALL NOT PREFER THESE IN LAWS OF THE RULE. This is why Indian Constitution mentioned " Classes ; and; Sections " for provision of Government Funds and Benefits. Article 16 is also thus mandates those Backward Classes . This is irrespective of Region , Caste , Race covering all. Same way , Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes are separately and specifically addressed comprehensively. So , Constitutional RULE SHALL strictly be Run with undiluted Mandates of Constitution WITHOUT INVOLVING RELIGIONS , OR CASTES , OR RACES for any preferential Benefits . SC/ST WILL HAVE THEIR OWN SPECIFIED MANDATES. more
Socially one comes from very small community & well represented perhaps tribe or sect or isolated people .constitutionally it is different. They are not well represented in any office ,local or government or public or private office. They are not mixed in a community at large. People with less liguistic, cultural, habitual, capabilities. They could not do better but remained isolated. But this definition is changing in today's parliament. more
The National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992, needs to be amended. The Govt. of India and The Constitution of India, including the SC of India must acknowledge the fact that the only and true "Minority Community" are the Parsis. There are approximately only 90,000 of Parsis in the entire world. ALL other communities number in their millions, if not Billions. The Indian Govt. and all their various commissions and their Acts should acknowledge this fact. The Parsis, in their small numbers, have contributed the maximum to the enrichment of India. The Govt. of India should wake up to this fact. more
