What will be politics like in Tamil Nadu in 2018
In all probability, President’s rule would be imposed in Tamil Nadu in March-April,2018, when OPS – EPS alliance will inevitably break down.
OPS is already sulking for remaining as deputy Chief Minister under a person who was under him when OPS was the Chief Minister earlier. OPS will not be able to stand this humiliation for longer period.
EPS group will dominate more and more and OPS will face increasing pressure from his followers to assert himself. He would quit when the necessary signal would come from Mr. Modi.
OPS quitting will inevitably lead to the fall of government, as EPS will not give up his Chief Ministership to please OPS to save the government.
Of course, the opposition will stake claim to form government in the event of EPS-OPS combine collapsing but Modi government would go ahead to impose President’s rule.
President’s rule in Tamil Nadu will continue till 2019 general election.
Citizens of Tamil Nadu will heave a sigh of relief.

In the event of DMK leaders getting a reprieve in 2G case, the BJP may tie up with DMK to contest the next elections. However this will once again provide a chance to DMK to come back to form the govt. This once again will be detrimental to the interest of public. more

In the race to leadership, there can be only one winner. For now, TTV seems to have lost out. It remains to be seen, who amongst EPS/OPS would ultimately lead the party. EPS seems to be silently gaining stronghold in the party. Whatever infights these people may have, I think they would not want to go back to people and face elections. Next elections is not going to be easy for AIADMK because of lack of charismatic leader like Jayalalitha, and they realize that their governance is going to decide their fate. They would continue to patchup and run the show. more
