Whats wrong with you BIS
You keep taking all kinds of inputs on standards and what not and you dont even have basic courtesy to share the water report with citizens.
I had to literrally search in google for 15 mins to find your attached report. You instead chose to share with select media than the citizens.
Why dont you conduct a suvrey here in your circle on who amongst us is getting clean water. Why is there no methodology outlined in your survey.?? more

The Standards created by the BIS are not meant to decorate the BIS library, but to circulate to circulate among the governments at the Centre and the States with positive directions to implement the same. The directions from BIS are missing. more

After I read the news I searched the right agency and got the 17 page pdf document of 20 cities with sufficient information. If you want your name to be appeared in these columns go ahead and write about more subjects. BIS did their job and set standards but to implement you need an agency with power. Have you ever gone to a Consumer Redressal Cell and got a positive judgement? If so did they implement it? No! they can deliver a judgement in your favour but can not implement it. I have three experiences of getting my deposits back and finally I approached Elder's Helpline under the patronage of the Commissioner of Police,Bengaluru to get my money back. Indian Judiciary needs a complete overhaul. more

Please go through the functions of BIS. It has limited jurisdiction and codified activities. We can not expect everything to be examined and standard to be laid down. BIS is standardisation agency but not not enforcing agency. more

You are right to an extent: BIS is an agency to create Standards, not an implementing agency. Getting the Standards implementing through the other limbs of the political governance is the responsibility of the BIS or the Standards Body particularly the important ones. I do not agree that BIS cannot get certain Standards implemented with the application of Essential Commodities Act in hand. Other agencies have to be asked to get certain Standards implemented. Political governance of a system is bad in all ages.

BIS like our grand old party needs a revamp and has become so much lethargic and has gone into insolvency and needs to be referred to the IBC or nclat more
