When going for excursion trip

In a media interaction with a consumer through Pahredaar programme of CNBC Awaaz on 27th April 2018, the consumer faced problem when he booked his travel package for himself and his family to visit Thailand through Yatra.com. He was not offered the promised facility at Airport and hotel in Thailand. In such a situation, it is advised that if you face similar situation of not getting the facilities what has been promised in the package, the consumer should make complaint to both i.e the aggregator as well as the hotel at least by email in the visiting country and then follow up when you are back to home. Please do not restrict your follow up on phone so that if at a later stage if you needed to take up your issue for deficiency in service, the documents/ records could be submitted to the consumer forum. Spend money even if it was included in the package and enjoy the travel as you have already spend huge money for enjoyment. You can claim such amounts at a later date and even you can also claim for the mental agony faced by you due to non-fulfillment of promises. more

Certain restrictions and regulations should be imposed to agencies taking the responsibility. more
It is observed that most of the problems are occurring because we ourselves do not discuss in details and take in a written form about inclusive facilities. Evem many of the local operators we choose may not have been the registered one. more

@ Shri Satya Pal Ratti Ji, It seems that the problem being faced by you was pertaining to the local issues. In case the local transport service was also included in the package, the same would have become challengeable for appropriate redressal. Now what in my view was having spent so much money in the travel, we cannot just waste the trip as some hotel was not offered as promised or you did not get the taxi free despite it being included in the package. Therefore my suggestion was to enjoy the trip and when back to the country, take up issue with the tour operator and claim all type of mental agony, compensation etc. My advise was how to make sure you have enough documentation of deficiency in service on account of not meeting the expected level of quality or the travel scheme. more
Interesting guidelines from Mr Virmani. However, the reality can sometimes show itself in another form. Allow me to share the following incident with you. My wife and I had joined a couple from Germany (we've known them over thirty years...) on a visit to Bangkok and Singapore, over ten years ago. In Bangkok, one of the main attractions is the night market. A tuk-tuk took us there in about 10 minutes from our hotel and the fare we paid was nominal and acceptable. However, the return journey by another tuk-tuk from the night market to our hotel lasted over one hour and the driver demanded his full fare, which was more than twenty times the fare that we had paid while going to the night market. The police was summoned to the hotel. Whatever transpired was spoken in the Thai language. Ultimately, we ended up paying full fare to the driver and we had absolutely no say against that. Today, we may laugh at the incident, but at that time we had nothing but rage surging in our veins. more
OBVIOUSLY. THAT IS WHY THEY GET MORE TOURISTS THAN US BECAUSE EVERYBODY THINKS THAILAND IS CHEAP. more
Thai police are very corrupt. They would have had an understanding with the driver and hence decided in his favour. more
Proper documents will always help in case of any complaint or deficiency in service. more
