Respected Navin ji. You must file ITR of your wife as total income in the Financial year is Rs. 3,57,370.00 whereas for senior citizen tax free income is Rs. 3.00 lac only. Accordingly, you have to pay 10% Income tax on 57,370.00 also that is Rs. 5,740.00. You may deduct TDS, if there is any. more
You are most welcome Navin ji.....If there is no TDS then it depends upon you to file ITR or not as being senior citizen there is no tax liability of your wife but I would like to say that you should file ITR to make continuity of ITR. more
Dear Sanjeev ji,Thanks for your fast response. We had submitted 15H and hence no TDS deducted. Pl advise.RegardsNavin Goela On Friday, 28 August 2015 9:55 PM, Sanjeev Goel wrote: more
@Navin Goela......if your wife has not done any business during the year then you may use ITR 2 instead of using ITR4. As your wife is of 66 years of age so she is senior citizen and if she has not submitted Form 15H/15G in bank for not deducting TDS on FD interest income then you have to file return for claiming refund of TDS. There will be no deduction for rent paid or reimbursement of medical expenses. more
