Who can save the railways????

Today I attended 12246 YPR-HWH DURONTO express to receive my daughter at the HOWRAH station. Look what I encountered :-
1. The train reached at 18:00( RT 16:45) hrs at platform 22. But the real time status at the website shows "arrived howrah platform 21 at 17:00 hrs. Height of deceit!!!!
2. None of the displays are working .The displays at the platforms are totally dark. You cannot see which train is departing or arriving at which platform. I was so used to the displays that TODAY I realised how horrible is quality of the PA system announcement. It is all jumbled up and not at all understood.Does the DRM even occassionally listen to the announcement?
3. Now if you look at the main displays :-
a) Why the font of the 1st board is so big? Why not use a lower letter size to accommodate more number of trains?
b) The second one has a big black patch at the centre. If the train I am looking for falls in that patch then imagine the dilemma.
My heart sinks seeing the condition of one of our most beloved landmark in such a sorry state.
Seems HOWRAH station has broken down Mr. Goyal. You now seem to have lost interest in our RAILWAYS and more interested in railway shaped cakes . If so please leave . We do not want railways to die because of bunch of inept persons. more

A lot of improvement is yet needed in the functioning of the giant like Indian rails. Even the authorities could not yet bring about the much needed discipline in timeliness. Their announcement system is lagging much behind the minimum expected level. However, the illustrated deficiencies in the display boards may be accidental due to some sudden technical problems into the system, which is not unusual. If we look a few years back and make a comparison, there are reasons to acknowledge the all round improvements brought in in the functioning of the railways since then though much more is yet to be done to make the institution an ideal one and fulfil the expectations of the common man, for which a period of 4 or 5 years is not enough. more
Still railway needs more improvement specially towards maintaining the running schedule of train and now it is winter season in northern zone god knows how hard railway can maintain running timing of trains.the is a basic requirement when the train are not running on time then what is the use of more than 7000 Nos. of passengers trains on track? Railway must review this flaw hardly and maintain the timing of trains strictly. more

I remember such experiences have been shared in this forum a year or two ago. I am dismayed this problem seems to continue. As for Sri. SATINATH BHATTACHARYYA's question, I am not optimistic if anyone can save IR. We all can try, and there probably would be improvements, but those will slide back to where they were. All the best, IR. more
The first point is that the rooms of Station superintendent and other officials are mostly having empty chairs. The subordinate staff is talking rudely and you can't complaint about their behaviour to anyone. Usually, the senior staff is not available and if he is, he would express his helplessness because of workers union. more
