Wht weapons to RPF

We can see RPF men collecting Haffttas having automatic weapons as if they are fighting with BAT of Pakistan. Have anyone heard when our RPF men fired a bullet. I do not understand why they need automatic weapons if they are not to be used. On 26/11, when VT station was attacked all these great RPF men simply fled from the scene, leaving entire fight for Mumbai Police. You do not need any weapon to carry on your Hafftta business. Let us transfer all these weapons to Police or Para Military forces who are short of automatic weapons. more

Weapons are given to RPF to scare common passengers to be vocal against them and many a time they thrashed protesting passengers in-spite of their clear fault. Showing this they easily harass people carrying even their old TV set and force them to pay good bribe for unknown reasons with a fear of missing the train ride. It is also to allow them a good hafta scaring the hawkers/vendors/even bottle pickers. Criminals looting of passengers or molesting women passengers in train is just a one-day news, forgotten next day by helpless Indian citizens, so not a priority of RPF unless a minister traveling in the train. So please don't ask why Railways have given them such weapons. more
Good point raised. I have seen bootleggers carrying materials in train and RPF carrying guns checking begs of normal passengers but I have never seen them arresting bootleggers. more
