Why # I Stand with Arvind
One cannot help but agree with the views of the Delhi CM and Deputy CM (and also with other leaders of the AAP like Kumar Vishwas). The CM is right to suggest that some sections of the media have taken a “supari” to finish off the AAP and is completely justified in expending taxpayers' resources in the services of monitoring the media so that it does not succeed in its endeavour. After all, the AAP is the govt in Delhi and the govt is the AAP. In fact it would be even better if the services of AAP volunteers (the paid variety) were taken by the DIP to fulfil the requirements of this new anti-supari sub-division.
The media in Delhi has taken a jaundiced view of the AAP govt in the city-state ever since it was sworn in riding on a massive win with 67 out of 70 seats. This, despite the fact that the Delhi govt took the media-friendly decision of preventing their entry into the Delhi secretariat for the benefit of transparent governance of course. Some sections of the media complained about this even though it was done to ease the burden on reporters and give them the benefit of work-life balance.
It didn’t just stop there. The anti-AAP conspiracy was played in full public view when two small-time leaders like Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were talking about silly stuff like inner-party democracy. To report day and night their side of the story when the pro-Arvind faction was giving the “real true picture” was plain biased and not how media is supposed to function. It made a spectacle of the unfortunate issue and then forced the hand of the Arvind faction to throw the two men and their few supporters out. Then to blame AAP and Arvind Kejriwal for being undemocratic ways was the height of bias and “supari” behaviour, as it was clear to everyone (who agreed with AAP) that the situation was forced by the media itself.
The Delhi government has been hard at work in Delhi trying to solve problems or create them and then solve them. Like the protest-cum-rally organised at Jantar Mantar against the draconian land Bill brought by the Central government. The AAP wanted it to be a surprise so it didn’t take any permissions to organise the event at Jantar Mantar and some supari-chewing sections of media tried to make an issue out of that as well. The turn of events at the rally was unfortunate and a farmer committed suicide, live, in front of the media and the AAP leadership and it was made worse by the media when it reported the statements made by AAP leaders after the suicide as it was; how callous and disrespectful! It was a shameful attempt by the same media to blame the fiasco on AAP rather than the police which had denied the permission to hold the rally in the first place or the Union government or someone else other than the AAP and its leaders.
Some people have called this fiction-based tirade of the AAP against the media a sign of victimhood complex, a paranoia. This couldn’t possibly be more untrue! It is as baseless and fraudulent as the reportage on the Law Degree of the Delhi government’s law minister. The question is not whether the degree is real or not but why it has been reported about. Is it even newsworthy to report that the law degree of a law minister is said to be false by none other than the university? And that too a university in a state which is not ruled by AAP and which doesn’t even have an internal Lok Pal!
Such shenanigans of the media leave no doubt in my mind that it has decided to finish off AAP in lieu of free supari. It has tried to hide behind the stupidity of facts rather than listen to the AAP govt and its representatives, especially the CM, who has rightly sought a trial of the media at a public square. If the media will not be accountable to the chief minister of a party with 67 out of 70 seats then what hope is there for this country! At this hour it is important for us to stand with the paragons of victimhood and I do just that. #IStandWithArvind. more
