Why Dr>Manmohan Singh remains silent ?

As Agusta Westland scandal is rocking the parliament with even UPA admitting that there was corruption and UPA wanting a probe under the monitoring of Supreme Court, it is surprising that Dr. Manmohan Singh who was the Prime Minister when the scandal took place and who is now a member of Rajya Sabha remains silent.

As the then Prime Minister , he is duty bound to explain to the parliament and to the nation as to what really happened when he was in charge. Several members of Congress party and the spokesmen of Congress party are denying that Congress party was involved in corruption and it is conspicuous that Dr. Manmohan Singh is not opening his mouth.

BJP is pointing it’s fingers at Sonia and Rahul but has left Dr. Singh scot free.

By not speaking out and BJP also ignoring Dr. Manmohan Singh ,he appears to confirm the impression that he really functioned as a figure head Prime Minister , with many things happening behind his back or with his full knowledge. He seems to think that silence is golden but the fact is that silence is destroying the reputation that he has cultivated over several decades as honest person.

Now, by joining the so called “ save democracy protest” in New Delhi along with Sonia and others , the criticism is only reinforced that he acts as per the dictates of the Congress President and has no independent stand . This view is prevalent, since he is not defending himself but simply only marches in the procession and gets himself arrested along with Sonia.

If Dr. Manmohan Singh feels physically or mentally weak to speak, he can atleast issue a written statement explaining his stand.

By saying nothing , Dr. Manmohan Singh is losing yet another opportunity to protect his reputation and dignity.

It does not matter if Manmohan Singh's reputation is destroyed or not, but what is more important is that the poor hard-working people's money has been lost through corruption. So, the first priority of the government is to bring back the lost money, and later they can think of punishing the guilty. more

Manmohan Singh has acted as a bureaucrat all through. He got his position as a PM and the benefits related to that office and he was happy. In fact he was chosen, as many say, to be the PM only because of this submissiveness. during that time Mr Pranab Mukherjee was a far more compelling candidate but he was not the one to toe the line of the family. Then the whole control of the family and other loyal of the family would have been an issue. Mr Manmohan Singh only rose up during the nuclear deal issue. His ability and agility was seen when he was the Finance minister- but the credit should equally or more go to Mr Narsimha Rao. Mr Manmohan Singh has been probably the worst PM which we ever had- allowing so much wrong-doing under his nose and allowing the desh drohis to loot our country. more
